AGSH.1

Predictions. Everyone likes to make them. Meteorologists get to make them for a living, which are often wrong. Psychics even make predictions ( for entertainment purposes only). The world of SEC football is no different.

After a few more sentences our panel of experts will attempt to make predictions on the outcome of the upcoming SEC Football season. Stu Shoemake and Joseph Craven will provide analysis on their picks. Some will be close, decent, and way off (probably mine). The important thing to remember is that you don’t take them too seriously, because after all…they are just predictions.

Stu Shoemake:

SEC East

Georgia Bulldogs

A Couple of Factors

  1. Nick Chubb and the Georgia OLine: Chubb could set records this season, which will only help the new QB and young receivers.
  2. Leonard Floyd and Jordan Jenkins: I raved over these guys last year and they are back for another season. Two highly experienced and talented LB’s will only help this improving Georgia Defense.

SEC West

Auburn Tigers

A Couple of Factors

  1. Coaching – Malzahn and Muschamp are masters of their trade.
  2. Muschamp will also get some help from Carl Lawson who returns from injury and should provide a pass rush that Auburn couldn’t find last year.
  3. Jeremy Johnson is not only the pure passer that Marshall wasn’t but he has had plenty of time to dive into the Malzahn playbook while waiting his turn. The Auburn Offense will be rolling.

SEC Champ

Auburn Tigers

Auburn will have too much offense and a much-improved defense for its opponents. The conference is theirs for the taking in my opinion.

Keith Harkins:

SEC East– Georgia

SEC West -Alabama

SEC Champion-Georgia

Matt Sprayberry:

SEC East– Missouri

SEC West– Auburn

SEC Champion-Auburn

Sonja Greenfiled:

SEC East-Georgia

SEC West-Auburn

SEC Champion– Auburn

Joseph Craven:

SEC East– Georgia

A Couple of Factors

  1. Georgia will be the East champs this year almost by default. It’s not that Missouri won’t be good enough to challenge them, it’s just that Missouri has too many gaps to fill from last year and Georgia brings a bit more experience. Granted, the quarterback issue will need to be addressed quickly for Georgia to have much of a chance for anything more, but their running game will be deadly enough to keep them in even when they’re still answering questions under center.

SEC West– Alabama

A Couple of Factors

  1. Speaking of questions under center, Alabama will win the West, but only barely. In fact, I can see scenarios that lead to most of the teams in the West being champs, so I really think it’s almost arbitrary to try to predict who will finish where in that.
  2. The only team who I think has the lowest chance of winning the West is LSU, and that’s mostly because they have to be on the road in Starkville, Oxford, and Tuscaloosa, which won’t help.

SEC Champion– Alabama

But back to Bama, who wins the West mostly off of controlling the line of scrimmage, which is sort of their thing. However, don’t be surprised to see their uncertainty and inexperience at quarterback to lead to somebody like Arkansas, Auburn, or MSU sneaking up there.
All that being said, I don’t think either team walks into the championship game without at least a loss, maybe more, and I don’t see the SEC producing a national champion this year.

I am a huge supporter of baseball, burritos, and the fact that even though the producers won't admit it, we all know Jon Snow is NOT dead!
